Hi, I’m Sara.

I have always been drawn to walking closely with others through difficulty, and know that it is what I am called to and created for. I long to create spaces where others feel safe, loved, accepted, and deeply cared about.

I am deeply committed to my own personal growth and am consistently engaging my own stories of harm and trauma in various ways. I have experienced both good and bad therapy and know how incredibly important the therapeutic relationship is first-hand. My personal exposure to good therapy has been an important part of my path to this profession.

My Approach

Regardless of what you are bringing, therapy will always begin with developing a safe relationship where you, as the client, feel heard and accepted. My Christian faith is important to me and guides how I see and interpret the world. If Christian faith is something we share, it can be part of the counseling process, and if it is not, it does not have to be. I welcome working with people from any background.

Because the therapeutic relationship is such an important part of the success of therapy, I offer a free 15 minute phone or video consultation for new clients to determine if we would be a good fit for working together.

Influences

My methods of therapy have been influenced by Carl Rogers person-centered approach, Dan Allender’s story work, attachment theory, and the neuroscience of Dan Siegel and Curt Thompson. I am constantly learning and being exposed to new ideas and techniques that eventually become part of the way I do therapy.

qualifications

I have a masters degree in clinical mental health counseling from Denver Seminary. I also have extra training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Splankna, and the Enneagram.

I have my LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) credential and I am also a board certified counselor through the National Board of Certified Counselors.

My family is incredibly important to me! My husband, Blake, and I met in college and have been married for 25 years. I homeschooled my four children for ten years before I went back to school to get my masters in counseling.

When I am not in the counseling office, you will find me hanging out with one or more of these five. I love reading, kayaking, learning, hand lettering, and being alone in the house (a rare treat).
